As we continue our journey of growth and expansion to serve the new era of nuclear energy, Boccard, as a leading specialist in engineering, manufacturing, construction and maintenance in the nuclear energy industry, are looking for an experienced,talented Materials Manager to lead our Materials Handling Team based at our fully digitalised manufacturing site in Broughton.

This key role of Materials Manager will supportproject operations in delivering materials and services as and when required to maintain service to Production teams and our partners. They will report directly to the Manufacturing Manager for direction and priorities and will work closely with our Fabrication Manager, Quality Teams and Project teams to fulfill all responsibilities.

Your duties will include:

Effective and collaborative team management ensuring all team members are supported

Recruit, develop and retain team members to ensure individual and team engagement, supervise, evaluate and coach staff members in stores, goods in/ out, Bandsaw and Plasma operations.

Ensures that the company standard practices and procedures are followed in connection with all materials department functions

Ensuring full material traceability is upheld during the full manufacturing process as LTQR

Responsiblefor ensuring all depot materials and services are available to facilitate operations, ensuring supply needs are understood, communicated and ordered on time for the project

Monitor and maintain systems, providing quality and accurate information

Liaise with Project and Procurement teams to ensure appropriate level of inventory with no impact on manufacturing

Negotiate with suppliers to ensure service levels and stocks are maintained for the project

Continually review Goods In/ Goods out and stock holding levels in order to meet requirements based on materials ordering and availability, supplier lead times and consumption rates

Generate analytics and KPIs for material consumptions and report to Manufacturing Manager and Quality Managers as appropriate

Engage with Clients Representatives and Manufacturing Manager to ensure all materials operations comply with contractual obligations

Ensure all staff are trained and certified before undertaking any materials handling and stores activities

Flexible approach to assisting with activities in other projects or locations

Ensure compliance with all QHSE requirements

On occasion carry out other activities to assist the business requirement.

Required Skills and Experience

Demonstrable recent experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment in the nuclear, or similar heavily regulated sector

In depth knowledge of supply chain and inventory management systems

Excellent organisational and time management skills

Proficiency in Microsoft office including excel at advanced level

Previous experience of managing a team including managing all aspects of employee life cycle

Leadership and influencing skills with the credibility to positively team build via communication, ensuring 2 way feedback with team members and wider team

Working in a fully digitalised, manufacturing facility the environment is clean and efficient with the overriding focus on safe working practices. Hours of work are 07:30 to 15:30 Mon to Thurs and 07:30 to 12:30 Friday.
