Gleeson Recruitment Group are pleased to be working with a dynamic and growing business, looking for an experienced Senior Group Accountant to join their finance team. You will play a key role in supporting the finance and operational teams across the business by managing essential financial and management accounting tasks. Role Overview:

As a Senior Group Accountant, you will take ownership of month-end processes, fixed asset management, intercompany reconciliations, and budgeting. You'll also work closely with both the finance team and operational management to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting across all group companies. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working within a close-knit team.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting:

  • Prepare month-end files and contribute to the month-end close process.
  • Review and reconcile intercompany transactions.
  • Produce management accounts, including posting month-end journals for fixed assets, depreciation, accruals, and prepayments.
  • Provide month-end analysis on key profit and loss accounts.
  • Prepare financial accounts, ensuring balance sheet items are fully reconciled.
  • Generate management information and key KPIs for daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports.
  • Assist with external audits, providing timely and accurate financial data.

Fixed Assets:

  • Capitalise assets through the ledger, ensuring correct classification and depreciation.
  • Calculate monthly depreciation charges.
  • Reconcile fixed asset suspense accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Maintain and reconcile the Fixed Asset Register.
  • Review asset disposal needs and ensure correct postings.
  • Monitor capital spend across the business and highlight overspends.

Intercompany:

  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure intercompany reconciliations are completed accurately each month.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

  • Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts, providing detailed analysis as needed.

Team Management:

  • Lead and support a small team of 2 accounting professionals, providing guidance where necessary.
  • Collaborate effectively within the finance team and develop a strong understanding of departmental processes.

Operational Collaboration:

  • Work closely with operational management to ensure compliance with financial processes and controls.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified (or equivalent).
  • Strong Excel skills and a high level of competency in financial systems.
  • Previous experience in month-end preparation and financial accounting.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills with a collaborative approach.
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
  • A self-motivated and enthusiastic attitude.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Experience using Sage 200.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills.
