Role Overview:

As an Assistant Accountant, you will be a key player in the month-end processes, financial reporting, and operational support across the business. You will gain exposure to areas such as fixed asset management, intercompany reconciliations, and budgeting, while working closely with both finance and operational teams to deliver accurate and timely financial information. This is an ideal opportunity for a motivated, part-qualified accountant with a keen eye for detail and a collaborative spirit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in preparing month-end files and contribute to the month-end close process.
  • Review and reconcile intercompany transactions to ensure accuracy.
  • Produce management accounts, including posting month-end journals (e.g. fixed assets, depreciation, accruals, and prepayments).
  • Provide detailed month-end analysis of key P&L accounts.
  • Prepare and reconcile financial accounts and balance sheet items.
  • Generate key management information and performance KPIs for daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
  • Assist with external audits, ensuring timely and accurate financial data is provided.
  • Manage assets in the ledger, ensuring correct classification and depreciation.
  • Calculate monthly depreciation charges
  • Reconcile fixed asset accounts
  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate intercompany reconciliations each month.
  • Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts, providing detailed analysis to support financial decisions.
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • AAT Qualified or actively studying towards ACCA/CIMA.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and a high level of competency with financial systems.
  • Previous experience in month-end preparation and financial reporting.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
  • Strong analytical mindset with meticulous attention to detail.
  • A self-motivated, proactive attitude, eager to contribute and learn.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
  • Experience with Sage 200 or similar financial software.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
