Job Purpose
The Control Tower Manager is a key position within the company, responsible for managing and optimising the global supply chain operations for a key account. This role acts as the primary point of contact between the client, the company's global offices, and external suppliers. The Control Tower Manager ensures alignment of supply chain activities, drives process improvements, manages risk, and focuses on cost efficiency across global logistics operations.
This role also plays a vital part in strategic solution development, helping to streamline operations, minimise risks, and ensure optimal performance in delivering logistics solutions that meet the evolving needs of the client's business.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Key Relationship Holder:
Serve as the primary liaison between the client, the company’s global offices, and external suppliers. Build and maintain strong relationships to ensure smooth operations and alignment with the client’s supply chain strategy and business needs.
Strategic Solution Building:
Collaborate closely with the client and internal stakeholders to design, develop, and implement tailored global logistics solutions that meet both current and future business requirements. Contribute to the creation of innovative strategies to improve service delivery and operational efficiency across global supply chains.
Process Improvement:
Continuously assess and analyse supply chain processes to identify areas for enhancement. Develop and implement strategies to increase operational efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall service quality.
Risk Management:
Proactively manage and mitigate risks within the supply chain by anticipating potential disruptions, identifying vulnerabilities, and developing contingency plans to safeguard operations.
Supplier Alignment:
Ensure seamless coordination between the company's global offices and suppliers. Foster collaboration across all partners to ensure unified execution of supply chain strategies.
Control Tower Operations:
Oversee control tower operations, ensuring real-time visibility and management of global supply chain activities. Utilise data and analytics to monitor key performance metrics and take corrective action to maintain smooth operations.
KPI & Performance Monitoring:
Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for supply chain operations. Monitor supplier performance, shipment accuracy, on-time delivery rates, and cost metrics to ensure continuous alignment with business objectives.
Stakeholder Communication:
Provide regular updates to key stakeholders, both internal and external, on operational performance, risks, and improvement opportunities. Act as the central point for the escalation of any supply chain-related issues.
Compliance & Governance:
Ensure that all shipping activities adhere to relevant international regulations, customs requirements, and trade compliance standards.
Qualifications and Key Skills
Strong leadership and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Deep understanding of freight forwarding operations, customs compliance, and global supply chain dynamics.
Experience in retail supply chain management, from supply booking to final-mile delivery.
Exceptional problem-solving and risk mitigation skills, focused on delivering strategic solutions.
Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with ERP or supply chain management systems.
