TELECOMS CUSTOMER INSTALLATIONS ENGINEER / DERBY & NOTTS / COMPETETIVE SALARY OF £30-£35K PER YEAR

We have a fantastic position available for experienced and dynamic FTTP Splicer Customer Installations Engineers to operate in and around the Nottingham and Derby area, who can work from customer surveys packs and install fibre cabling into business customers, splice onto the existing network, read SLDs, and exchange patch into switches, along with test, fault find and configure routers

Key Responsibilities of the Customer Installations Engineer:

  • You will be responsible for preparing, splicing, and installing small, medium, and large cable joints (48F/96F/144F) either underground or overhead.
  • You will be responsible for performing underground and overhead cabling, including rod and rope, small run cable pulling. Additionally, you will conduct testing, troubleshooting, and diagnostics on fibre optic networks.
  • Maintain all accurate records, data and provide daily progress reports.
  • Perform acceptance testing using OTDR, light source and power meters.
  • The role requires a comprehensive understanding of the full Fibre design from an implementation perspective. You will assign tasks to teams, conduct fibre splicing matrix analysis, and collaborate with internal and external technical experts to provide effective responses to customers.
  • You will be responsible for taking photographs of completed customer fibre installations, along with distribution points showing both inside the closure and externally, showing their position on the chamber or poles. You will collaborate with internal and external technical experts to provide effective responses to customers.
  • Give practical demos to new recruits to help them learn the right way.
  • Adhere to all Health & Safety, Quality, Company, and Environmental policies.
  • Reading PIA maps and drawings.
  • Report any issues effecting delivery.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • SA001, SA002,K8/S7, N27/S8 or equivalent
  • NRSWA unit 2
  • Splicing and testing
  • SMART AWARDS
  • PIA experience desirable but not essential
  • Previous experience working at height from a ladder and cabling from up to 11m telegraph poles
  • Experience in lone working and health and safety requirements that are specific to working at height
  • Practical experience in a customer-facing role
  • Have a current driving license
