The Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Cashier to join the firm’s finance team.

You play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of financial transactions within the firm, maintaining compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR), and supporting the wider team in managing client and office accounts effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing client and office account transactions in compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR)
  • Handling daily banking transactions, including reconciliations of client and office accounts
  • Posting receipts, payments and transfers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Managing the payment of invoices, disbursements and other financial obligations
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end financial procedures, including reporting requirements
  • Liaising with fee earners, clients and external stakeholders to resolve financial queries
  • Supporting compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) and financial regulatory requirements
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and assisting with audits, as required
  • Ensuring adherence to internal financial policies and procedures

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Previous experience as a Legal Cashier within a law firm is essential
  • Strong understanding of the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR) and regulatory compliance
  • Experience in handling financial transactions within Residential & Commercial Conveyancing, Private Client and Family law is desirable
  • Proficiency in legal accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise workload effectively
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Professional and confident communication skills, both written and verbal
