UK-wide field sales role with the ideal location being in the Midlands.
Your Role as a Business Development Manager, Engineering
This is a technical sales role that requires a practical and hands-on business developer who can effectively communicate at a technical 'jargon' level when necessary.
It is an ideal position for a highly motivated and organised individual with a passion for sales, who enjoys a diverse range of responsibilities in a company that has a family atmosphere despite having over 3,000 employees worldwide and generating more than a billion euros in annual revenue.
The role is with a leading European manufacturer of precision components and focuses on new business development, leveraging leads generated through marketing and your own strategic sales initiatives.
The position is best suited for a commercially focused sales professional with a "hunter" mentality who is personable, listens to customers, and approaches each interaction in a consultative and professional manner.
The role has two main aspects. The first is selling off-the-shelf products both directly and through distributors. The second aspect involves selling to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and engaging with design engineers at the specification level. The range of clients is extensive and includes manufacturers of scientific instrumentation, Formula 1 teams, industrial manufacturing companies, medical device manufacturers, as well as those in the automotive and aerospace sectors.
What is Required to Succeed in this Technical Sales Role
- You will have proven technical field sales experience selling engineering or industrial components. Ideal backgrounds would be pumps, seals, valves, pipes, hose systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, flanges, filtration, gauges, sensors, flow meters, couplings, unions, manifolds, regulators, heat exchangers, tubing, clamps, gaskets, O-Rings, controllers, etc.
- As a person, you will be confident, able to get on with all levels and be personable, positive, enthusiastic and willing to learn new products in a sector with rapidly evolving technologies and applications. You will be the kind of person that 'gets a great job done with a smile on your face'.
- You will be comfortable with a reasonably autonomous UK-wide role and be looking for a 5-year-plus career position as there are prospects to progress into management in the coming years.
- You will be a 'sponge for information'; the kind of person that genuinely is interested in how your clients do things and can 'talk technically' at a jargon level. You do not need to be an engineer, as the company employs brilliant application engineers who will support you throughout.
- You will be an excellent communicator and negotiator who can get deals done across all levels. With OEMs you will be selling to design engineers, materials decision makers to purchasing leaders, typically at board-level.
The company enjoys incredibly low staff attrition and is fair, open and involves all staff in the direction of the UK business.
