The CompanyOur client are a market leading organisation who has seen their turnover quadruple over the last 5 years! Due to this exceptional growth, they have an exciting opportunity for a National Account Manager to join the Commercial team.

The RoleThe National Account Manager role is responsible for growing the Branded and Distributor Brand business in the Discount Channel with specific focus on Home Bargains, B&M, Savers, Poundland and Bodycare.

The National Account Manager is required to build exceptionally strong customer relationships & increase level of influence to grow the account portfolio ahead of the market within these strategically important Discount Customers. The NAM is responsible for developing & implementing annual account plans and working with the UK Sales Controller to develop a long term strategy for growth which enables budgeted sales & contribution targets to be hit and exceeded.

Main duties include:

  • Building strong relationships with customers to win and develop our profile in the Channel growing distribution, in store visibility & profit ahead of sales.
  • Network comprehensively within the accounts to benefit business and the trade relationship; identify and work with key influencers to win the hearts and minds of our customers and step change our influence at all levels with the support of the UK Sales Controller.
  • Direct responsibility for each individual account P&L and customer relationship management of these strategically important retailers.
  • Develop account business plans showing annual brand and budget achievement
  • Facilitate practical, positive working relationships with all departments internally across the business.
  • To ensure accuracy of forecasting, ensuring the achievement of forecasting accuracy targets specified by the business and attending customer supply chain meetings to ensure service level targets are delivered and relationships are built. Use internal promotional and forecasting system to capture all promotions and trade terms accurately and timely.
  • Establish and demonstrate commercial grip and control of the Accounts, including keeping all internal trackers and documents updated
  • Sell in and launch NPD with excellence in all the Accounts, working collaboratively with internal and external teams to ensure all POS, creatives and activity land in store and online on time.
  • Attend S&OP meetings, sales team meetings, conferences, trade shows conventions as and when required.
  • Responsible for completion of monthly sales report for the Accounts, providing epos commentary on monthly performance and action plan for balance of year.

What We Are Looking ForThe National Account Manager must have experience of managing accounts within FMCG sector into retailers.

The National Account Manager will ideally have:

  • Previous work experience as a National Account Manager level is essential.
  • Experience working in a FMCG business.
  • MS Outlook, PowerPoint, Word & Advanced level Excel is essential.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with stakeholders at various levels
  • Experience working in the Personal Care and/or Health & Beauty sector desirable.
  • Educated to graduate level ideally in a related Business degree.
  • Ability to travel in the UK is an essential part of the role.
  • Acts as a role model and encourages best behaviour through leading, inspiring and influencing their team or peers to drive performance.
  • Displays a high degree of emotional intelligence, maturity, and self-awareness. • Good commercial awareness with a view of how financial and operational decisions impact on the bigger picture.
  • Positively challenges existing ways of working and applies a strategic lens to deliver against company goals.
  • Proven success in gaining distribution, negotiating prime display sites, profitable promotional plans and agreed P&Ls.
  • Ability to negotiate with customers to achieve objectives
