About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Building Surveyor to join our Property, Design, and Maintenance team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to apply your expertise in building surveying, maintenance, and project management to ensure that our properties are well-maintained, safe, and compliant. You will provide a full suite of surveying services, oversee inspections, manage contractors, and prepare reports and recommendations to support high standards across our property portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
As a Building Surveyor, you will:
- Perform detailed inspections and condition surveys, diagnosing defects and prioritizing actions to address any safety, accessibility, or maintenance issues.
- Prepare comprehensive reports, specifications, and cost estimates for building maintenance and repair works.
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to provide technical advice on feasibility and costs for proposed projects, ensuring informed decision-making.
- Oversee and authorise building maintenance, repairs, and upgrades, monitoring work quality and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Contribute to the design and planning stages of new developments and major repair programs to optimize long-term maintenance.
- Coordinate with external consultants, contractors, and agency staff to ensure timely, quality-focused project delivery.
- Participate in an out-of-hours emergency call-out rota to respond to urgent property issues.
- Maintain project records, budgets, and asset data within our asset management systems to support informed future planning.
Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
- A university degree in Building Engineering or Surveying (essential) and full membership with a relevant professional organisation (e.g., RICS, MCIOB).
- Strong knowledge of construction standards, regulatory compliance, and current asset management practices (e.g., ISO 55000).
- Experience managing a variety of projects, including new builds, refurbishments, preventative maintenance, and repairs.
- Competence in IT and asset data management software for managing building information, records, and reports.
- An ability to prioritise multiple projects effectively, with flexibility and excellent communication skills.
