Skilled Machinist

  • Job Type: Contract (12 months, 37 hours per week)
  • Working Hours: 3 Shifts (Monday to Friday: 6am-2pm, 2pm-9pm, 9pm-6am)

We are seeking a skilled General Machinist to join our team. In this role, you will operate various CNC machining platforms, producing high-quality components such as Discs and Drums. This position requires a commitment to delivering weekly targets to meet customer requirements and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in our manufacturing environment.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Operate CNC machines and program manuals, ensuring consistent, high-quality machining across different components and product families.
  • Utilise a variety of inspection equipment, including machine probing, micrometres, and plug gauges.
  • Interpret manufacturing and customer drawings as well as written specifications.
  • Assess the quality of components produced to ensure they meet the required standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and sustain improvement activities within the manufacturing environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Completion of an advanced modern engineering apprenticeship and an NVQ/SVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience with Siemens control systems is preferred.
  • Proficiency in 3 and 5-axis grinding, milling, and turning.
  • Previous experience with aerospace components is advantageous.
  • Clear and demonstrated understanding of drawing interpretation, calibration, dimensional and visual inspection.
