Our client, a leading building services contractor, is seeking a Mechanical Building Services Estimator to join their growing team. This role is pivotal in preparing accurate cost estimates for mechanical projects.
The successful candidate will work closely with designers, project managers, and suppliers to assess project requirements, analyse costs, and prepare detailed proposals for mechanical building services.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially aware estimator with strong industry knowledge, looking to develop within a progressive and well-established company.

Mechanical Estimator
Key Responsibilities
- Attend sites to assess project requirements and costs.
- Use Excel-based estimating tools to prepare cost estimates.
- Identify ambiguities in drawings/specifications and clarify with clients.
- Request and manage pricing from supply chain partners.
- Take off services from drawings, factor in prelims, commissioning, travel, and other costs.
- Consider SBEM, SAP, BREEAM and other relevant targets when preparing tenders.
- Prepare clear, precise tender letters and contractor proposals.
- Offer innovative solutions to improve cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with contract teams to ensure smooth project transitions.
- Maintain tender logs, follow up on bid status, and report to senior management.

Key Skills & Experience
- Experience in mechanical building services estimating.
- Strong Excel skills (experience with in-house estimating systems is beneficial).
- Good commercial awareness with the ability to optimise bids.
- Strong communication skills for client and internal interactions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
