Role Overview: We are seeking an apprentice served/relevant experience and motivated Junior Manufacturing Engineer/Draughtsman to optimize and support our production lines. You will evaluate manufacturing processes, design, and install equipment, jigs, and tooling, produce engineering definitions in a continuously improving, dynamic working environment.
Utilize SolidWorks software to create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and drawings for mechanical and structural projects, ensuring adherence to relevant specifications and requirements.
Collaborate with sales and the client to develop concept designs and translate into precise CAD models and technical drawings.
Conduct design reviews and make necessary modifications to enhance the functionality, efficiency, and aesthetics of the designs.
Manage and organize CAD libraries, templates, and project files to collaborate with project managers to ensure timely delivery of design deliverables while meeting quality standards.
Provide technical support and expertise to colleagues and team members on CAD-related matters.
Adhere to industry standards, regulations, and company guidelines throughout the design process.
Maintain consistency and standardization across projects.
Key Responsibilities and Opportunities:
Proven experience as a CAD Designer with a focus on using SolidWorks software or similar.
Proficiency in 3D modelling, assembly design, and drafting using SolidWorks or similar.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and design specifications.
Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in CAD modelling and documentation.
Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve design challenges efficiently.
Strong time management skills to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
MUST BE ABLE TO DETAIL FOR MANUFACTURE
MUST HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF: Material properties (i.e 304/2B/DP1), some welding knowledge, material sizes/standards predominantly orientated around stainless steel, ability to follow standards (e.g. Yorkshire water spec)
Evaluate and improve manufacturing processes.
Produce fabrication / manufacturing drawings.
Design and implement automated and manual systems.
Optimize facility layouts and production lines.
Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
Become an integral part of an enthusiastic team.
Able to work to deadlines/under pressure
Mechanical Design Engineering experience - knowledge of rotating mechanisms would be an advantage.
Understanding of basic electrical concepts in order to facilitate specification and testing of product.
Ability to manage own workload ensuring targets and objectives are met.
Qualifications:
Apprentice-served fabricator or relevant experience
Proficiency in either SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD and must be able to use SolidWorks to be able to take existing designs and put them on drawings for manufacture
Desire to learn and progress with potential for training into design engineer
