About the Role:Hays Education is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistant to join our team, supporting primary schools around the city centre. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate individual to make a significant impact on the lives of children with SEND in mainstream educational settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to students with SEND, ensuring their individual needs are met.
- Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to deliver targeted interventions.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Support students with a range of SEND needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Dyslexia, and Speech and Language difficulties.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
- Promote social and emotional development through positive behaviour management strategies.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
- Previous experience working as a SEND TA in a primary school setting.
- Strong understanding of SEND and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with SEND.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices in SEND education.
Desirable:
- Additional qualifications or training in specific SEND areas (e.g., ASD, ADHD).
- Experience with assistive technology and resources for SEND students.
- First Aid certificate.
- Full Clean Driving Licence
