Position: SEND Teaching Assistant - Derby

Location: Derby (Derby Central, Allenton, Littleover, Darley Abbey, Alvaston and surrounding areas)

Salary: Competitive, based on experience

Contract type: Short term or long term positions available

Hays Education are working with primary schools in Derby who are looking for SEND Teaching Assistants to join their team on either a short or long-term basis. We also have permanent opportunities available. As an SEND Primary Teaching Assistant, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young learners.

Your role

We are looking for supportive, resilient, compassionate individuals to work within a school setting where you will be joining a skilled and cohesive team. The role is to support children in their learning and behavioural needs, and you will play a massive role in their development and educational success.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide personalised support to students with SEMH needs, ensuring their well-being and engagement in learning.

Implement effective behaviour management strategies to promote positive behaviour and minimise disruptions.

Assist students in accessing the curriculum,adapting materials as needed.

Build strong relationships with students, offering emotional support and encouragement.

Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other staff to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment.

Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions.

Requirements:

Experience in a school environment

Relevant teaching assistant qualifications are desirable but not essential.

Experience working with SEND children is essential.

Excellent classroom practiceBehaviour management
