SET is seeking an experienced Electronics Project Engineer to join their team in Derby. You will have a passion for achieving a detailed understanding of systems and, working with the considerable expertise within the team, delivering a robust engineered solution to the problems our clients encounter.

SET has a reputation for delivering high integrity solutions and, as the winners of several highly contested contracts, we need to grow our engineering team, especially in railway electronic and electrical systems.

We work across many disciplines: High power density motors, Traction electronics, Power electronics, Communication systems, Dynamics control, Instrumentation, Data harvesting and analysis, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work on elements of the innovation projects and, as part of the team, develop ground-breaking solutions.
  • Drive the technical elements of some investigation and solution projects:

- Identifying root causes, proposing solutions - Developing the relevant repair, overhaul or replacement solutions to realistic timescales.

You will have opportunities to do work in fields that are both challenging and exciting as well as fine tuning your existing skills.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Process or Control Engineering, Physics or equivalent in experience Broad knowledge of Electronics, Mechatronics and Systems with ability to deep dive unfamiliar technologies
  • Familiarity with electronics test equipment, electronics circuit schematic and design, diagnostics, reverse engineering, repair procedures
  • Ability to work in a team and guide others within the business
  • Ability to communicate technically with colleagues, customers and suppliers
  • Take enjoyment from complex problem solving and pride in the robust solutions you take part in delivering
  • Take a high level of personal responsibility for your work
