Reports To: Team Leader Risktec M.05 Rail Consulting Team
Location: Derby, UK. Office-based with flexible home working arrangements available upon agreement
Role Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Senior Engineer to join our Risktec M.05 Rail Consulting Team. In this role, you will lead the delivery of a wide range of Rail Consultancy services within the UK, covering topics such as rolling stock technical consultancy, maintenance and operations, rail safety management, strategic advisory, compatibility assessments, auditing, and technical assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver top-tier rolling stock engineering and safety consultancy services to clients both in the UK and internationally.
- Manage and lead projects within your area of expertise, including handling project budgets, timelines, quality, and resource allocation.
- Develop proposals and engage in business development activities to foster client relationships and secure additional work.
- Support other TV Rheinland / Risktec consultancy and assessment teams on projects related to rolling stock, on-track plant, signalling, and infrastructure.
- Collaborate with TV Rheinlands global rail teams to bid for and deliver major international projects.
- Represent Risktec at marketing events, recruitment fairs, seminars, and industry committees.
- Attend meetings with clients and stakeholders to maintain clear communication and project alignment.
- Continuously enhance your own competence and technical knowledge at the forefront of the railway industry, expanding your areas of expertise.
- Support the development of colleagues through project-based knowledge transfer and mentorship.
Key Requirements:
- MEng or BEng in a relevant discipline, or equivalent academic qualifications.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
- Proficient in MS Office software.
- Significant experience in rolling stock or other rail engineering disciplines.
Desired Qualifications:
- Chartered Engineer status, or actively working towards this or an equivalent professional qualification.
- Proficiency in additional languages.
- Experience with CAD and/or Finite Element Analysis software.
- Experience with reliability or fault tree analysis software.
- Proven experience in managing safety management processes such as CSM-REA or EN5012x.
- Experience in applying or assessing compliance with standards and codes of practice including Railway Group Standards, ENs, TSIs, and NTSNs.
- Experience in conducting safety or quality management system audits, ideally with ISO 9001 Lead Auditor qualification.
- Detailed technical knowledge in one or more mechanical or electrical rolling stock systems or specialisms.
