A client within the Public Sector based in the East Midlands is currently recruiting for an Environmental Health Officer to join their enforcement team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within the public sector.

The Role

Key purpose of the role is to deal with a wide range of Environmental Protection duties including: the investigation and enforcement of statutory nuisance with experience of dealing with complaints in relation to noise

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Lead and give direction to a team of professional staff engaged in the carrying out of highway maintenance activities
  • Comply with health and safety regulations, legal and statutory requirements, council standing orders, financial regulations and public sector procurement rules
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of highway maintenance techniques, modern procurement / construction methods, statutory instruments, legislation and the application of new technology appropriate to the discipline

The Candidate

To be considered for this role you will require to be a qualified Environmental Health Officer with a Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health and be registered with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health to be able to practice.

It will be essential to have an extensive level of knowledge of the below:

  • To inspect premises and enforce statutory provisions to ensure compliance with the authority's statutory obligations, and provide guidance, information and training to businesses to aid their compliance.
  • To prepare, monitor and authorise legal and other documentation, and to instigate legal proceedings to ensure compliance with the authority's statutory obligations.
  • To gather, analyse, co-ordinate and interpret data to support the improvement of efficiency and effectiveness to maintain public safety and support business.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £22 per hour Umbrella Ltd.
