Carbon60 is currently looking for a Machinist to join a client of ours based in Castle Donington. This position is a 12 week temp to perm.

Pay/Salary: £16.70/hour, £33,000/annum, overtime available

  • OT payable: After standard hours - Monday - Friday midnight 1.5x, Saturday 1.5x, Sunday 2x and Bank Holidays are 3x

Working Hours/Shift Pattern:

  • Monday - Thursday 07:45am - 16:15pm, Friday 07:45am - 14:15pm, 38 hours/week, 30 mins break/day

Main duties & responsibilities:

  • Machining of coppers, steels, commutators, re-sleeving end shields and on LT130 armatures
  • Using measuring equipment such as micrometers and vernier's for accurate work
  • Working on Colchester lathes as required
  • Balancing fans/rotors/shafts/commutators and using understanding of balancing to achieve desired outcomes
  • Assist in other areas of the workshop areas of the workshop when needed, e.g. with the mechanical fitters, training can be provided as applicable

Essential skills / experience / qualifications:

  • Active UK driving license is beneficial
  • Experience machining ferrous and non-ferrous metals is essential
  • Able to accurately use measuring equipment, micrometer, vernier's etc
  • Good understanding, competency and comprehension of the English language essential to adhere to health and safety on-site and follow instruction
  • Experience using Colchester Lathes is advantageous but not essential, training can be provided
  • Experience of balancing components and understanding balancing is advantageous but not essential, training can be provided
  • Mechanical fitting and/or pump experience on this advantageous but not essential, training can be provided, to assist in other areas of the workshop
  • Balancing certificate beneficial e.g. IS0 G1 but not essential
