Assistant Head of Year 10 (Non-Teaching)
Location: Derby (DE1)
Start Date: 10th March 2025 or ASAP
Salary: 110 - 125 per day
Contract: Full Time, Long-term to permanent
A well-established mainstream secondary school located in central Derby is seeking a dynamic Assistant Head of Year 10 (Non-teaching) to work closely with the Head of Year 10 in providing comprehensive support to students in their year group. This important role will involve assisting in pastoral matters and ensuring high standards of behaviour, attendance and engagement in learning are maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Head of Year 10 in promoting students' mental and physical well-being through tailored interventions.
- Provide guidance to students on learning, health, safety and wellbeing matters.
- Assist in liaising with parents, carers, and external agencies, acting as a pastoral point of contact alongside the Head of Year.
- Ensure full compliance with child protection policies and safeguarding procedures.
- Help manage staff referrals concerning behavioural issues, following up on incidents and student statements.
- Support conflict resolution between students and help build positive relationships.
- Assist in tracking and monitoring report cards, attendance and behaviour to ensure targets are met.
- Help address attendance concerns by liaising with parents and conducting home visits where necessary.
- Coordinate learning materials for students who are absent or excluded, ensuring continuity in their education.
What the School is Looking For:
- Pastoral Experience: Previous experience supporting student wellbeing, behaviour, and attendance in an educational setting or similar.
- Strong Communicator: Able to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff, supporting the Head of Year in maintaining effective communication.
- Problem Solver: Skilled in supporting conflict resolution and addressing behavioural issues.
- Adaptable & Resilient: Able to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment while working closely with the Head of Year.
