Salary: £68,400 - £75,331 (L16-L20), depending on experience

We are currently seeking a Headteacher to join an innovative provider of education and care for children, young people and adults with special educational needs and disabilities.
As part of our clients growth strategy, they are excited to be opening a brand-newPrimary and Secondary Special Education school which will open its doors in early 2025.The schoolis based inDerbywith a proposed capacity of 72 students aged between 5-19. It is anticipated that the student cohort will have a primary diagnosis of ASC/ADHD.
Looking for aHead Teacherto join themin September 2024, you will beto support with the planning, creation, registration, opening and running of the new provision. The building will be completely redeveloped, and work is already underway to design the look and feel of the school to ensure it fulfils its potential of being an amazing learning environment. The facilities will allow students to access a varied curriculum in a calm and nurturing environment with a team that strives to give every student the confidence and opportunities to achieve.
The Role
The Role of theHead Teacheris toprovide vision, strategic leadership, direction and an effective culture for the school to the highest professional standard whist maintaining its success and providing a high quality of education which reflects the organisations vision and values
In line with all Head teacher roles; you will ultimately be accountable for all areas of operational and educational performance within the School, as well as the financial performance and management of education and support staff.
To achieve in this role, you will be someone who inspires creativity and collaboration, a strong leader and a passionate advocate for your students, finding ways to deliver educational outcomes that make a real difference to them.
As this is a new school in the development stage, you will lead of the design and development of the school curriculum in order to meet the needs of the student cohort. You will also be instrumental in the recruitment and development of an effective team to secure the success of what we anticipate being an outstanding school.
Skills and Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status with further professional qualification in a relevant area. Candidates with Head Teacher qualification (such as NPQH/SNLP) or a willingness to gain such a qualification preferred.
- Proven experience as a Head Teacher within a specialist school environment
- Up to date knowledge of current DfE guidance including Independent Schools Standards (ISS)
- Knowledge and understanding of SLD and ASD issues
- Up to date knowledge of local and national government initiatives and legislation
- Quality assurance experience (such as lesson observations and performance management)
- Strong and effective leadership qualities
- Superb communication and stakeholder management skills
