We are currently seeking experienced and dedicated Teaching Assistants to provide ad-hoc support in secondary schools across Derby. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals with a background in education to make a real difference in the lives of young learners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 support to students with various needs, ensuring they are engaged and progressing in their studies.

  • Support small groups of students in a range of subjects, assisting with their learning and development.

  • Offer general classroom support, helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

  • Work closely with teachers and other school staff to monitor student progress and assist with any special educational needs (SEN).

  • Ensure students are following instructions, staying on task, and managing their behaviour.

Requirements:
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or in a similar educational role.

  • A passion for supporting young people and helping them to succeed.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents.

  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to different classroom environments.

  • A positive and patient approach with a strong focus on student welfare.

  • A DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service) will be required for the role.

Desirable:
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or equivalent).

  • Experience with students who have Special Educational Needs (SEN) is an advantage.
