Derby Council are currently recruiting for a Homelessness Advisor to join their Housing team.

Main Duties:

  • Provide face-to-face service to customers with housing needs, offering advice and support to prevent homelessness and assist with accommodation requirements.
  • Complete assessments in line with legislative frameworks, developing personalised housing plans and providing written advice to customers facing homelessness or housing insecurity.
  • Collaborate with external agencies and accommodation providers, negotiating positive outcomes and working in partnership with statutory and non-statutory bodies to ensure customer needs are met.
  • Support service delivery and best practice, ensuring consistent approaches, adhering to policies, and providing updates to teams and managers, while considering financial and safeguarding implications.

The Candidate Will Have:

  • Proven experience in customer service and housing advice, including managing complex cases and developing tailored housing plans to meet individual needs.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, demonstrated through working with providers, partners, and agencies to secure positive housing outcomes for residents.
  • Experience in collaborating with multi-agency teams and adhering to policies related to safeguarding, health and safety, and equality to ensure high-quality service delivery.
