JOB TITLE: PART-TIME LEGAL SECRETARY - 20 hours per week

SALARY: £negotiable depending on experience

HOURS OF WORK: 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday - 3 days per week - negotiable on specific days)

Main Purpose of the role:

  • Reporting directly to a fee earner or fee earners, provide support to him/her and to the team as directed

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Supporting the Dispute Resolutions department with general office / administrative duties
  • Audio and copy typing using the 'BigHand’ digital dictation system.
  • Creating new clients and information in the database with complete and accurate data
  • Maintain the in-house database in line with the company’s procedures and the Data Protection Act
  • Ensure that all typed work is accurate and proof-read before being handed to the fee earner
  • Extensive client liaison - communicate in a professional manner with clients and internal staff on the telephone and by email, relaying messages where possible
  • General administration, i.e. photocopying and filing;

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

The skills required to undertake the above job description are as follows:-

  • Experience working as a Legal Secretary in Dispute Resolution, Litigation or other legal sectors
  • Audio typing skills, ideally but not necessarily gained in a legal environment
  • An organised, systematic approach
  • The ability to work well under pressure, either alone or as part of a team
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface with clients in person and/or by telephone
  • Experience using MS Word together with well-developed English language skills (essential) as you will be producing large numbers of highly detailed legal documents and case file notes.
  • Self-motivated;
  • Knowledge of legal Case Management systems desirable
