Macildowie is looking for an experienced Legal Secretary to join a well-established and growing company in Derbyshire. This role is perfect for someone who has a strong background in legal secretarial support and thrives in a fast-paced environment. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of legal teams, providing comprehensive administrative support while maintaining high standards of compliance and client care.
This is a permanent, full-time position.
Salary: Up to 26,000
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Draft, proofread, and format legal documents, letters, and reports with attention to accuracy and compliance.
- Assist in the preparation and filing of legal documents for court proceedings, ensuring deadlines are met and documents are submitted according to SRA rules.
- Maintain and organise both physical and electronic filing systems, ensuring all documents are easily accessible and compliant with data protection regulations.
- Act as a liaison between clients and solicitors, ensuring prompt and professional responses.
- Handle sensitive client information in line with SRA confidentiality rules and the firm's data protection policies.
- Assist in the preparation of bills and manage client accounts, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory billing requirements.
- Ensure all legal documents and correspondence comply with SRA regulations, firm policies, and procedures.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) and other regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and manage solicitors' diaries, scheduling meetings, hearings, and client appointments.
- Monitor case progress, alerting relevant parties to upcoming deadlines and ensuring case files are kept up to date.
- Provide general administrative support, including answering phone calls, managing emails, and directing queries to the appropriate team members.
- Assist with the preparation of financial documents and coordinate travel arrangements for legal staff.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in specific areas of law, such as wills and probate, within an SRA-regulated firm.
- Completion of any relevant SRA compliance training or CPD courses.
- Experience with case management or document management systems (e.g., LexisNexis, Practical Law, Actionstep, LEAP).
