The Transport Coordinator is responsible for managing daily transport operations to ensure goods are delivered efficiently and on schedule. This role encompasses route planning, driver and vehicle management, compliance oversight, and communication between various stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, the ability to handle high-pressure situations, and a proactive approach to logistical challenges.
Shift Pattern:4 On / 4 Off (Days) | 06:00 am 18:00 pm
- Develop and optimize delivery routes to maximize efficiency and reduce costs.
- Coordinate and plan shipment schedules.
- Assign drivers to routes and ensure they are briefed on tasks.
- Manage driver schedules and monitor performance.
- Serve as the primary contact between drivers, clients, and internal teams.
- Provide real-time updates on delivery statuses and resolve issues proactively.
- Maintain accurate records for deliveries, expenses, and driver logs.
- Prepare transport documents, including timesheets, night-out logs, and driver expenses.
- Schedule and ensure timely vehicle servicing, PMIs, and MOTs.
- Liaise with the Vehicle Maintenance Unit (VMU) to coordinate vehicle availability.
- Ensure adherence to transportation regulations and company safety policies.
- Conduct safety audits, driver checks, and implement corrective measures as needed.
- Manage unforeseen delays or issues, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Generate reports on vehicle usage, transport costs, and operational efficiency.
- Highlight successes and recommend areas for improvement.
- Supervise and support drivers and transport staff.
- Conduct team meetings, performance reviews, and provide training.
- Handle Return to Work and Bradford Factor meetings.
- Track KPIs related to transport operations.
- Address performance concerns and initiate improvement plans.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in transportation coordination, logistics, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with drivers and clients.
- Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and GPS tracking tools.
- Solid understanding of transportation regulations and safety standards.
- GCSE qualifications in English and Maths (or equivalent).
- HGV license.
- Advanced proficiency with software tools such as MS Office.
