The Automotive Technical Trainer Role:

This exciting role delivers the crucial components of the Technicians’ journeys throughout their programmes of study, from induction to Master Technician Assessment. The opportunity involves managing and teaching adults through Toyota’s certification programmes, new model training and ongoing knowledge updates by providing them with the knowledge, skills, behaviours, and support required to enable them to successfully achieve a positive outcome. This is achieved through the delivery of interactive, engaging, practical and virtual learning sessions from their class leading training facility.

You will be based at Toyota’s purpose-built modern training facility, with access to fully equipped workshops, vehicles, classrooms, showrooms, and full restaurant facilities, located within the UK’s only Toyota car manufacturing site at Burnaston, Derby. You will have access to state-of-the-art workshop facilities and innovative training technologies which include virtual classrooms and a green room to support the delivery of interactive, practical learning sessions.

Applications are welcomed from occupational experts who have the right level of technical expertise, practical skills, and knowledge, having worked in a training environment before is desirable but not essential as full training will be given.

Key Responsibilities Include:

+ Delivery of the skills, knowledge, and behavioural components of the automotive certification from Level 2 to level 4 and above+ Developing and updating training materials and courses+ Maintaining safe learning environments, effectively promoting Health and Safety+ Occasionally travelling to Europe for train-the-trainer sessions+ Feeding back results of practical and theoretical assessments+ Supporting and mentoring apprentices to ensure each reaches their maximum potential+ Maintaining accurate and up to date training records+ Contributing to implementation of continual improvement+ Participating in internal and external quality audits, including observations of teaching & learning, matrix assessment & Ofsted Inspections+ Attending staff meetings & forums and contributing to specific development projects+ Keeping up to date with technical and academic knowledge+ Undertaking all other duties as may be reasonably required

About You:

Essential:

+ Appropriate level of occupational technical competence+ Up to date technical expertise, practical skills, and knowledge within an automotive environment+ Either possess or be willing to work towards an approved Level 3 teaching qualification+ Full driving licence holder+ English and maths to at least Level 2

Desirable:

+ L3 or above teaching qualification+ Assessment and Quality Assurance, F Gas or Hybrid qualifications+ Experience of the development of training materials+ Experience of delivering feedback on progress and identifying ways to continually improve+ General understanding of training programmes
