Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled and dedicated Stroke Physiotherapist to join our team for the winter period. This role involves working within an acute stroke setting, collaborating closely with a highly experienced multidisciplinary team (MDT) to provide comprehensive care for a diverse range of stroke patients in an inpatient environment. The ideal candidate will bring specialized skills in stroke physiotherapy, offering compassionate and effective treatment and supporting patients in their recovery journey.
Key Responsibilities- Patient Assessment & Treatment: Conduct thorough physiotherapy assessments with acute stroke patients, develop individualized treatment plans, and deliver both solo and joint sessions as part of the MDT.
- Skilled Patient Handling: Safely and effectively manage patient handling and movement, performing complex mobility assessments as needed.
- Discharge Coordination: Identify and coordinate suitable discharge options, ensuring patient safety, and recommend adaptive equipment and aids to support transition.
- Adaptive Equipment: Assess, prescribe, and manage a range of mobility aids and equipment to optimize patient recovery and independence.
- Clinical Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of stroke conditions, particularly in acute phases, and familiarity with National Stroke guidelines and physiotherapy best practices.
- Communication: Demonstrate clear, compassionate communication with patients and collaborate effectively with the MDT. Provide accurate documentation in medical records and make concise onward referrals.
- Time Management: Ability to manage a dynamic, high-volume caseload, prioritizing care based on clinical urgency and patient needs.
- Professional Practice: Uphold patient autonomy, respect diversity, maintain confidentiality, and engage in ethical practice. Ability to assess and interpret movement patterns effectively.
- Education: Degree in Physiotherapy (MSc or BSc) with full HCPC registration.
- Experience: At least 12 months of NHS experience in an acute stroke or neuro setting.
- Training: Evidence of stroke- or neuro-specific training.
- Computer Literacy: Ability to work with electronic medical records and related systems.
