Position: Teaching Assistant - Extra Support
Location: Derby
Hours: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM

A Derby Primary School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team. This full-time role focuses on providing additional support to children who need extra assistance to thrive in their learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with classroom teachers to support children who require additional help.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students to enhance their learning experience.
  • Assist in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Help manage classroom behavior and promote positive social interactions.
  • Prepare and organize learning materials and resources.
  • Assist with the supervision of children during break times and school activities.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other staff members regarding student progress and any concerns.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is desirable.
  • A genuine passion for helping children achieve their full potential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of child development and educational practices.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education or childcare would be an advantage.
