I am handling an Assistant Buyer opportunity locally for a leading housebuilder and a Commercial Manager I have known for a number of years.

As a business they and have huge pipeline and with this in mind they are looking to add a Trainee/ Assistant Buyer to the team, someone who has relevant housebuilding experience or wants to get into the field and wants to continue their career progression.

This role focuses on the ordering and procurement of various materials for regional developments as well as assisting with other duties within the buying team, and reports directly into the manager of the Commercial department. The purpose of the role is to assist with a cost effective and timely supply of materials for projects and contracts to ensure completion is within budget.

The role will include:

  • Support with the procurement and scheduling of materials ensuring compliance with Group Procurement Procedures and quality assurance requirements and regulations to ensure costs are controlled and projects complete on time, within budget and to quality standards
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure a cost effective supply of materials for projects and contracts to ensure completion is within budget
  • Support with the production of accurate and timely valuation reports and management information to enable the Commercial management team to make informed business decisions
  • Work cohesively with other departments across the Operating Company to ensure achievement of targets
  • Comply with the Group Health, Safety and Environment Policy to ensure health and safety standards are met

A recent procurement graduate or something with a year or two experience would be ideal.
