A tier 1 contractor for Severn Trent Water is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their highly successful Commercial team in Derby. This role offers the chance to work on impactful projects with hybrid working arrangements available.
The Role
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will report directly to the Managing QS and be responsible for managing key accounts on large projects or overseeing the financial control of smaller ones. This is a dynamic role that requires strong commercial acumen, effective communication skills, and a hands-on approach to project management.
Key Responsibilities
路Financial Oversight: Manage applications, valuations, cost control, and forecasting, ensuring accurate monthly reporting of value, cost, profit/loss, and cash flow.
路Supply Chain Management: Oversee subcontract enquiries, negotiate terms, and set up contracts.
路Risk and Value Management: Work closely with the project team to optimise solutions and mentor team members.
路Contract Management: Ensure compliance with relevant contractual forms, budgetary controls, and software applications.
路Liaison and Communication: Maintain effective communication with site teams, subcontractors, and client representatives.
路Safety and Compliance: Ensure safety risks are promptly identified and addressed, with all notifications and documents kept up to date.
路Support and Guidance: Provide contractual advice and ongoing assistance to the site team as needed.
About You
Essential:
路Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification.
路ARICS accreditation or working towards APC.
路Experience working with a main contractor in a similar role.
Desirable:
路Experience in the water sector or related industries.
路Knowledge of NEC contracts and their application.
