We are currently looking for a Senior QS with rail industry experience for a contract role based in Derby.  This is a contract role for an initial period of 12 months and is outside of IR35.

 

Job Role:

  • Being responsible for project work package change control, cost/budget management, forecasting and mitigating risks
  • Being the key commercial interface for responsible work package manager and providing contractual and commercial support to Project Managers and Engineering
  • Providing input to internal and external commercial reports as required by Commercial Delivery Strategy
  • Ensuring processes and document control align with the appropriate company standards
  • Maintaining auditable records in accordance with contractual requirements
  • Working and collaborating with key partners in finance, project management, engineering, sub-contractors, suppliers, and clients

Requirements:

  • Having previous (Senior) Quantity Surveyor experience working within a contractor side project environment ideally within a similar or related industry e.g. rail, engineering, construction
  • Being degree qualified and/or hold or working towards professional qualification (i.e., RICS, ICES)
  • Handling subcontract costs; estimating change / variations; forecasting cost and measuring cost of work complete
  • Having strong negotiation skills and ability to manage commercial strategies
  • Working with limited supervision and under own initiative under cost or time critical conditions; managing expectations
  • Being confident and able to deal externally and internally at all levels
