Job Description:
We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, and dedicated Cover Supervisor to join our secondary schools in Derby. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in supporting our students' learning and maintaining a positive classroom environment in the absence of their regular teachers.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising students during lessons, ensuring they are engaged with pre-set work, and providing support where needed. You will need to have a positive attitude, strong communication skills, and the ability to effectively manage classroom behavior.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise classes and ensure students are engaged with pre-set learning materials.
  • Manage student behavior in line with the school’s policies and procedures.
  • Provide support and assistance to students, including helping with any questions related to the work set.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of students during lesson times.
  • Maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Provide feedback to teachers and school leaders on students' progress and any issues encountered during lessons.
  • Participate in school activities and support the wider school community where needed.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience working with young people, ideally in a school or educational setting.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage classroom behavior effectively.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and student support.
  • Flexibility, reliability, and a strong work ethic.
  • A passion for working with young people and a desire to support their academic and personal growth.

Desirable:

  • Experience as a teaching assistant or in a similar educational role.
  • Knowledge of secondary school curriculum and educational processes.
