SENIOR RESIDENTIAL CHILDCARE WORKERS

Salary: Salary £34,812 per annum (inclusive of sleeps), rising to £35,662 per annum on completion of a successful probation period
RESPONSIBLE TO: Home Manager

JOB PURPOSE:
To work with our children and young people within residential child care helping them to feel happy, healthy, safe from harm and able to develop in every aspect of their life including education and independence, teaching coping strategies and life skills to deal with painful feelings and situations where at times of crisis they might express their frustrations through risk taking behaviours such as running away, self-injury, violence, anti-social behaviour and or aggression. Ensure there is an efficient handover of information and good communication from one shift to the next. That shifts are planned, and staff directed and supported and safeguard the care of Children and Young people and promote their welfare, that care plans and risk assessments are followed. Ensure that all administration tasks have been completed, carry out supervisions and debriefs. To work in accordance with our regulatory body (Ofsted)

Experience
Experience of working with children and or young people with EBD/ CSE or in related social care sector.
Must be have functional skills in literacy and numeracy. Must Hold Level 3 Children & Young Peoples Workforce Diploma or relevant equivalent. Completed some independent study surrounding Childrens Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
NVQ Level 3/4 and or Diploma Level 5. Additional advanced level training relevant to residential care. Hold First Aid certificate and have attended previous safeguarding awareness courses.
Experience of working in teams, leading and mentoring staff on shift preferably in previous residential setting.
To be able to cover additional hours at short notice and be flexible to the needs of the home. Accompany young people on a holiday
