KS3 Teaching Assistant Job - DerbyshireAbout the role:We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic KS3 Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team at Hays. This role is pivotal in supporting the educational and personal development of students in Key Stage 3 (ages 11-14). As a KS3 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to ensure that all students receive the support they need to succeed academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Support:Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging and effective lessons. This includes preparing teaching materials, setting up classroom activities, and supporting students during lessons.
  • Individual and Group Support:Provide targeted support for individual students or small groups, particularly those who may need extra help with their studies. This includes working with students with special educational needs (SEN) to ensure they can access the curriculum.
  • Behaviour Management:Help manage classroom behaviour by implementing the school's behaviour policies and strategies. Support students in developing positive behaviours and social skills.
  • Assessment and Feedback:Assist in assessing students' progress by marking work, providing feedback, and maintaining records of student achievements. Help identify students who may need additional support.
  • Pastoral Care:Provide emotional and social support for students, helping them to build confidence and self-esteem. Act as a mentor and role model, fostering a positive and inclusive school environment.
  • Extracurricular Activities:Support the organisation and supervision of extracurricular activities, such as clubs, sports, and school trips. Encourage student participation and engagement in these activities.
  • Professional Development:Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge. Stay up to date with educational best practices and SEN strategies.

Requirements:

  • Experience:Previous experience working with children or young people, preferably in an educational setting. Experience with SEN students is highly desirable.
  • Qualifications:Relevant qualifications or training in education, child development, or a related field. A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is advantageous.
  • Skills:Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
