Do you have experience in supporting pupils with special educational needs? Are you available to begin work from September 2023? Empowering Learning are working with a mainstream school based in the central Derby area who are looking to appoint a part time SEN teaching assistant to work in their SEN unit within their school.
The role will be Monday to Friday and the hours of work will be 08:30-12:00. The contract will be fixed term until July 2025 with the potential of becoming permanent for the right person from November 2024.
The school are looking somebody to appoint who:
- Has previous experience of supporting SEN pupils
- Has at least one years' school based experience
- Holds a TA qualification or a relevant degree
- Can build good relationships with children who struggle to engage in class
- Has good communication skills to liaise with staff and pupils
- Can lead inspiring interventions to help engage pupils
The main duties within this role will be:
- Leading academic interventions with children working below age expected levels
- Working on a 1:1 basis with children who present with autism
- Supporting pupils in and out of class who present with special educational needs
- Liaising with the school SENCO and the class teacher around the progress of pupils
- Providing pastoral support to children with social and emotional needs
- Working across EYFS with children working below age expected levels
