Empowering Learning are looking for QTS Teacher to work in a specialist SEND provision situated in Derby. Experience working in a school setting and experience with SEND pupils is essential. Teaching ability across the age ranges is favourable. This role is to start in September 2024.
Expectations:
- Have experience working with young people
- QTS or QTLS
- Be highly organised with excellent communication skills
- Have a desire to work with, inspire and support children
- Lead a range of subjects with pupils.
- Have an interest in supporting young people with a variety of SEND
- Have experience supporting children with additional needs (desirable not essential)
- Be able to supply school with teaching references
- Be a part of the school team taking part in the wider school environment
- Have an understanding of behavioural management
Main Responsibilities:
- Teaching a range of subjects in a class setting in SEND School.
- Planning lessons and activities for whole class learning and group learning.
- Supporting SEND children with their work in a class setting
- Managing difficult behaviours and implementing the school behaviour policy
- Safeguarding vulnerable pupils
- Possible supervising on lunch and break times
- Supporting and managing teaching assistants within the classroom
- Building relationships with staff and pupils
- Collecting evidence of pupils work to support their assessments
- Feedback to the relevant member of staff about the pupils progress
- To have pastoral responsibility for a group of pupils
- Potentially lead in a subject area
- Ensure a team approach to education with stakeholders such as parents and carers
