Job Title: Semi Senior Accountant

Location: Castle Donington, Leicestershire

Salary: £25k to £28k, dependent on experience

Hours of Work: Full-Time 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday

Type: Permanent

Start Date: Immediate or as soon as possible

We are a well-established law firm based in Castle Donington, Leicestershire. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Semi Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team.

Role Overview:

The Semi-Senior Accountant will join our well-established and successful accountancy practice. We offer a wide range of services, from traditional accounting to tailored business advice, tax services, and corporate guidance.

In this role, you'll be part of a team, managing various accounting tasks for a diverse set of clients, ranging from sole traders to large companies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare statutory accounts from different bookkeeping methods, including reconciling bank accounts, control accounts, fixed assets, debtors, creditors, and nominal ledgers, as well as preparing the trial balance.
  • Submit Year-End accounts using accounts production software.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns.
  • Keep client accounts up to the required standards.
  • Prepare personal tax returns.
  • Corporation tax calculations.
  • Help the team with internal audit tasks.
  • Handle client queries and communicate with HMRC on their behalf.
  • Assist with preparing management accounts and financial forecasts.
  • Perform general bookkeeping for multiple clients using accounting systems like Sage, QuickBooks, Xero, Digita, and IRIS.
  • Visit client sites to set up and maintain bookkeeping records, help with quarterly VAT returns, and support clients who manage their own records.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Strong understanding of accounts preparation, with qualifications or experience (part-qualified or qualified by experience).
  • Experience using cloud software like SAGE, Xero, QuickBooks, and Free Agent.
  • Proficiency in Digita is a plus.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at once and prioritise effectively.
  • Skilled in building and maintaining client relationships, ensuring high service standards to meet client expectations.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with both clients and colleagues.
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good commercial awareness.
  • Knowledge of tax planning and structures is an advantage.
