An exciting opportunity for a Head of Environmental and Sustainability has become available with a leading name in the railway electrification sector.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and legislation governing environmental and sustainability
  • Create and put in place the IMS requirements for environmental and sustainability management
  • Head up the environmental and sustainability team, providing strong leadership, mentoring and guidance
  • Help teams produce EMPs and other related documentation
  • Review environmental requirements in Work Package Plans (WPPs)
  • Assist with the preparation of consent applications, ensuring these are made in a timely fashion
  • Offer guidance to teams with regards to SWMPs, making sure legal requirements are identified and data is properly recorded
  • Develop and deliver environmental training, encompassing toolbox talks and specific courses
  • Liaise with specialist consultants covering areas such as ecology


The person:

  • Previous experience at management / leadership level inenvironmental and sustainability, preferably within the rail, engineering or construction sectors
  • Strong understanding of relevant UK legislation
  • Membership of the IEMA (MIEMA)
