About the Role of Chef:

As our Chef, you'll take the lead in planning and delivering delicious, well-balanced meals that meet the dietary and nutritional needs of our residents. Working closely with the Home Manager, you'll manage kitchen operations, maintain hygiene standards, and inspire your team to deliver exceptional food and service. This is a hands-on role where your culinary skills and creativity can truly make a difference.

Key Responsibilities for the Chef:

Plan, prepare, and serve daily meals that meet residents' nutritional needs and personal preferences.

Ensure meals are appetising, visually appealing, and cost-effective.

Monitor food stock levels, place orders, and manage kitchen inventory.

Keep accurate records of food orders, deliveries, and stock usage.

Maintain high standards of food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness at all times.

Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations, including proper food storage, preparation, and handling.

Supervise and train kitchen staff in food preparation, hygiene, and kitchen procedures.

Carry out regular kitchen cleaning, including deep cleans, to maintain a safe and sanitary environment.

Attend staff meetings and participate in ongoing training as required.

Develop strong relationships with residents and their families, responding to feedback and dietary requests with care and consideration.

Skills & Attributes for the Chef:

Proven experience as a Chef, ideally within a care home, healthcare, or hospitality environment.

Excellent cooking skills with a strong understanding of different dietary needs and cooking techniques.

Knowledge of nutrition and ability to create balanced, varied menus.

Strong communication and team leadership skills.

Ability to manage time and kitchen operations efficiently under pressure.

Familiarity with health & safety and food hygiene regulations.

Confidence to supervise, support, and develop kitchen staff.

Flexible and willing to work weekends and bank holidays as part of a rota.

Qualifications for the Chef:

Food Hygiene Certificate - Level 2 (essential), with willingness to work towards Intermediate Food Hygiene.

First Aid Certification (desirable).

NVQ Level 2/3 in Food Preparation/Catering (or equivalent).
