We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant/Learning Support Assistant to join our small team in rural Norfolk, based between Thetford and Attleborough. This role is focused on supporting pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will play a crucial role in providing pastoral care and acting as a positive role model for pupils who may come from disadvantaged backgrounds and face challenges in accessing mainstream education.

Working hours: 08.30 to 16.30 , Monday to Friday , Term time only

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support pupils in developing social skills, emotional regulation, and resilience.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure the holistic development of pupils.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to relevant stakeholders.
  • Promote positive behavior and manage challenging behavior in a supportive manner.
  • Encourage and motivate pupils to engage in learning activities and achieve their full potential.

About You:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the development of young people.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education, child development, or a related field is desirable.
