We seek a skilled and motivated Fibre Installation Technician to join our growing team. This is based in Norfolk, Norwich and Peterborough. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fibre optic networks in multi-dwelling units (MDUs) such as apartment complexes, office buildings, and mixed-use properties. You will work in residential hallways to ensure installations are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:路 Fibre Installation: Install, test, and maintain fibre optic cables and related equipment within MDU environments.路 Customer Interaction: Communicate effectively with residents, property managers, and other stakeholders to schedule and complete installations.路 Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues with fibre installations, including light loss, connectivity issues, and equipment malfunctions.路 Site Preparation: Assess MDU building layouts and design installation plans, ensuring efficient fibre routing with minimal disruption.路 Compliance & Safety: Follow all safety guidelines, industry regulations, and company protocols for fibre optic installation and maintenance work.路 Documentation: Accurately complete installation reports, job logs, and other documentation as required by the company and regulatory standards.路 Upgrades & Maintenance: Perform necessary upgrades and routine maintenance on existing fibre optic networks within MDUs.路 Team Collaboration: Work closely with the operations team, project managers, and other technicians to ensure timely project completion and customer satisfaction.路 Audits on this role are regular and inevitable; So, we ask that the candidate completes works of the highest quality to avoid revisits on their own accord.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in fibre optic installations, preferably in MDU settings (apartments, offices, etc.).
- Knowledge of fibre optic testing tools, equipment, and installation techniques.
- Strong understanding of fibre optic networks, splicing, and terminations.
- Ability to work in a team and manage time efficiently.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues.
- Familiarity with industry standards, health and safety regulations, and best practices.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
