Product Support Engineer (Construction/Building/Agricultural Machines)

Desford (LE9) - 3 days a week onsite

Initial 12 Month Contract - likely to extend for the right person!

Hours: 37.5 hours a week, 08:00 - 16:00 Monday - Friday

Up to £22.10 per hour PAYE / Up to £29.95 per hour via an umbrella company

We’re looking for a Product Support Engineer to join our client, a globally renowned Fortune 100 building construction machine manufacturer in Desford. This is initially a 12 month contract, which is likely to extend for the right person!

You’ll provide support services for a specific machine to improve repairability, maintenance & serviceability - the engineering side is varied, looking at all aspects of the machine. This is an excellent opportunity in a unique and varied role with cross functional exposure across internal departments as well as field work, providing expert technical & service engineering support.

What would the Product Support Engineer (construction/building/agricultural machines) do?

  • Product Support: Support service engineering strategies and processes for a given product to improve repairability, maintenance & serviceability
  • Deliver Technical & Service Engineering Materials: Produce or author comprehensive go-to-market technical and service engineering documentation for NPI and current machines
  • Enhance Dealer Capabilities: Create and maintain high-quality publications to ensure dealer capability and service delivery quality, to enhance customer experience and support effective field service and maintenance of our client’s machines
  • Supporting Product Launches: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful launch of new products, providing expert technical & service engineering support.
  • Continuous Improvement: Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to produce, refine and /or optimize product support publications and materials, or providing expert technical & service engineering support.

What skills and experience will the Product Support Engineer need?

  • 5+ years’ demonstrable hands on experience in product support, service and maintenance repair processes for off highway machinery (e.g. building / construction /agricultural machines) - you’ll understand design requirements and have an appreciation from the customer side of the maintenance required for these large machines!
  • Good knowledge of general construction products or off highway machine products and /or product applications
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, product and systems knowledge, and a robust background in construction machine product engineering
  • A strong and effective Communicator, used to communicating internally and externally with customers
  • Microsoft Office suite
  • Authoring and writing technical manuals/documents experience is highly desirable
