Turner Lovell are recruiting a Civil Site Manager, experienced working on projects from inception through to completion. The role is to lead on behalf of a key contractor for an extension of an existing substation.
The ideal candidate will be able to work independently on high-profile schemes, drive safety standards, provide leadership to internal resources and demonstrate excellent communication skills to all key stakeholders.
Duties:
- Day to day management of site operatives, subcontractors and site work.
- Development and implementation of safety documentation including construction phase plans, site quality plans and risk assessments / method statements.
- Undertake inspections Carry out site inductions, Toolbox Talks & Daily Briefings.
- Prepare daily SSoW and put people to work.
- Produce & maintain Site Specific Risk & Method
- Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Communicate effectively with the contractors and client
- Attend weekly progress meetings
- Resolve any issues or conflicts that may arise during construction
- Ensure quality control measures are implemented throughout the project
- Maintain a high standard of documentation and records of project activities/labour including a site dairy
- Desirable to already hold SSE authorisation of minimum CAT1C
Requirements:
Essential Skills
Must have
- SMSTS,
- First Aid at Work,
- SHEA Power/ CSCS,
- Temporary Works Co-Ordinator & Supervisor
- Substation experience
Desirable Skills
- An extensive knowledge of construction methodologies within the Electricity Transmission industry.
- Competency to work in substations 66kV to 400kV inclusive.
- Knowledge of NEC contracts.
- Knowledge of current legislation relating to health, safety and environment.
- Ability to work within budget and to programme timescales.
- Ability to work within a team environment including clients, designers, H&S advisers, site staff, quantity surveyor and estimators.
- IT literate, specifically in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Full driving licence.
- Qualified to a suitable level in construction, mechanical engineering or an electrical engineering discipline.
- Previously or current authorisation to National Grid TP 137.11.
