We are recruiting an Electrical Project Engineer to join the team based in Devizes. The job holder will be responsible for the technical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and project management skills to successfully deliver electrical and control system solutions across industrial projects and bulk materials handling and drying plant and machinery.Role Overview Electrical Project EngineerAs an Electrical Project Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, implementation, and commissioning of electrical and control systems across various industrial projects. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) electrical regulations, working with PLC design and commissioning, and assisting in the planning and execution of electrical projects. This role requires a strong technical understanding of electrical distribution systems, automation, and industry standards to support project success.Personal Qualities:

Essential Requirements:

  • BSc/BEng degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in electrical/control engineering
  • Good understanding of current industry standards
  • Ability to interpret and apply engineering codes and standards
  • Understanding of mechanical and control processes
  • Experience with electrical/control software and tools
  • Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A natural curiosity to learn new technologies and solutions
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Occasional visits to site will be required
  • Full driving licence

Role Description:

  • Analysing technical drawings, interpreting specifications, and determining the electrical and control requirements of a given project.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, contractors, and other engineers to develop electrical/control designs.
  • Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and reports for the projects.
  • Use computer-aided design (CAD) software and other tools for producing software or/and designs.
  • Recommend solutions based on project requirements and cost considerations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant engineering standards and regulations.
  • Perform risk assessments and propose solutions to mitigate potential issues.
  • Supervise on-site activities to ensure adherence to design specifications and safety standards.
  • Investigate and diagnose issues and provide recommendations for repairs or modifications.
  • Prepare and present technical reports and documentation for clients and stakeholders
  • Working as part of a small team, take ownership and responsibility for tasks presented, and work in a manner that helps to ensure the success of the business.
  • Use initiative, logical reasoning and experience to produce practical solutions that are simple, economic and practical.
  • Take responsibility for designs, making sure that all reference information is correct. Designs should be produced in accordance with applicable British Standards, legislation and other "good practice" standards.
  • Demonstrate a genuine willingness to undertake any task that may be required, thinking ahead to effectively plan work and gather all information required. Organise own workload to ensure work is prepared, checked and completed on time. Actively look for new work as required to maintain continuity of workload.
  • Diligently follow ISO9001 and other company procedures appropriate to the role, always contributing positively to the continuous improvement of the business, and the quality of service. Ensure all work is fully finished, filed and/or archived in accordance with Company procedures.
  • Take pride in all work produced to ensure that drawings and other documents are accurate, clearly presented, comprehensive and produced to the required deadlines. When complete, all work should be effectively self-checked before being passed on.
  • Ensure all communication is clear, effective, precise and timely, to give or receive information as necessary for the smooth running of the work in hand. Meet regularly with colleagues and team members to check that work is proceeding correctly and in line with the requirements of the project. Be seen as a reliable and effective contact within the project team.
  • Assist with any other duties as requested, such as the preparation of operation and maintenance manuals, and be willing to take every opportunity to develop a better understanding of the products and services the Company provides.
  • Develop and maintaining strong relationships with technology providers to understand the latest technologies and to ensure compliant deliverable solutions are developed.
  • Produce subcontract specifications capturing mechanical, electrical and civil requirements for providers to quote against and reviewing their tender returns for compliance and value.
  • Assumes full responsibility for the technical feasibility of the solution and any subsequent modifications
  • Takes part in client / supplier discussions to define requirements
  • Manage and work with teams to deliver the required technical documents, on time and to budget
