Your new companyHMP Erlestoke is a Category C men's prison located near the village of Erlestoke in Wiltshire, England. Situated approximately 3 miles east of Devizes, it serves as the county's sole prison facility. The establishment primarily houses adult male prisoners, with an operational capacity of 524 individuals.Your new roleHMP Erlestoke are currently looking for an Electrician to join the maintenance team, to ensure the site is maintained to the agreed standard within the undertaking of planned and reactive service and maintenance, breakdown and fault-finding. Other duties will include but are not limited to:

  • To complete installations, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems, in line with experience and qualifications, in adherence with statutory regulations, industry best practice and Health and Safety procedures.
  • To ensure allocated, planned maintenance and small repairs are carried out, undertake service requests raised by the CAFM system and site service levels are maintained.
  • To ensure all activities are effectively prioritised in-line with local procedures, ensuring workload/regime is delivered escalating issues to the Supervisors / Site Manager when required.
  • To supervise prisoners as required during work and training.
  • To undertake general maintenance tasks and survey inspections in areas including confined spaces and at height, recording all work and completing associated registers/logs.
  • To advise on sufficient levels of stock and request procurement of goods and services and ensure all materials used are logged and are fit for purpose.
  • To escort technical contractors, working with and supervising them in accordance with the Local Security Strategy (LSS) when required.
  • To maintain regular communications, via radio net, in accordance with LSS.
  • To accept formal appointments as a competent or authorised person in accordance with the requirements of GFSL's safe systems of work as required.
  • To drive estate vehicles and operate plant equipment where required and only if suitably qualified.

As an Electrician, an NVQ Level 3 in Electrical installations or equivalent.You will also need:- Hold your 18th Edition; lower editions will not be accepted- Be qualified to C&G 2391 - Electrical inspection and testing- Strong communication skills- Basic IT Knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
