We are working with a local authority who are looking for a Quality Assurance Reviewing Officer (QARO) to ensure that statutory and regulatory safeguarding requirements are met for independent reviewing for children in care, child protection and fostering reviewing functions.

The service will provide independent, professional support and challenge and be accountable for service improvement, ensuring quality assurance of practice across the whole service.

Location: Southwest based Local Authority 

Set-up: Hybrid

Rate: £370 per day via umbrella, inside IR35

Duration: Initial 3-month contract

Hours: Full-time position

Responsibilities include:

  • To manage a team to ensure the effective delivery of high- quality practice, which delivers positive outcomes for vulnerable children
  • Support and challenge operational practice to ensure outcomes for children are achieved
  • Ensure that children are central to the assessment of their needs and any plans to support them
  • Ensure that the voice of the child or young person is heard that children are a central focus in decision making and that their rights and responsibilities are being championed
  • Organise and facilitate a range of meetings to meet statutory obligations under the Children Act 1989 and Working Together 2023, focusing on building relationships; ensuring effective participation and taking a strengths-based approach

Requirements:

  • Local Government experience required for initial shortlisting, then thereafter at the client’s discretion
  • A strong value base that informs their work with individuals, carers, families and partner organisations 
  • Ability to establish professional, effective working relationships with a range of partners/colleagues, individuals, families and their carers
