Job Description:
H3AT is a research and development division that delivers hydrogen and tritium experiments, technology, and expertise in support of the fusion fuel cycle. The focus of the division is on delivering practical, innovative, hydrogen and tritium plant, research, and experiments which support the realisation of a commercially viable fusion fuel cycle. Multiple roles available covering research experiments, process plant equipment, and hydrogen plant design.

* Deliver packages of working investigating tritium assuring the quality and safety of these activities.
* Contribute to the development of internal bespoke equipment or the sourcing of external solutions.
* Use technical knowledge to perform engineering assignments and produce engineering deliverables for complex problems.
* Work with external collaborators (including universities, public sector research establishments and industry in fusion and related fields) in order to complement UKAEA's internal capability, offer access to additional expert knowledge and to facilitate new project proposals.
* Produce technical documentation in line with project requirements, e.g. requirements, technical specifications, datasheets, workpacks, equipment lists.
* Support project through technical control process, liaising with interfaces and chief engineers.
* Support project through design stage gates (e.g. concept, preliminary, detailed design, installation, commissioning, and decommissioning) and reviews (e.g. HAZID, HAZOP, design reviews, etc).

Qualifications Required: * Degree or higher in engineering.
* Highly self-motivated and demonstrates initiative.
* Demonstrated experience in implementation of science / engineering skills.
* Good verbal and written communication and diplomatic skill.
* Possession or progress towards accreditation with a professional body (e.g. IEng or CEng) preferred.

Experience Required: * Understanding health and safety issues.
* Experience of preparing technical documentation, including specifications, datasheets, requirements lists, equipment lists..
* Background or experience of multi-disciplinary R&D programmes is desirable.
* Knowledge and experience of preparing research proposals and/or project planning is desirable.
* Experience of developing and running complex experiments and testing equipment is desirable.
