I'm hiring for an impressive UK-based deep tech start-up in Oxfordshire. They are hiring a Senior Backend Engineer (Python/Django or Flask) to join our enthusiastic and rapidly growing team.

Your new role

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll develop and maintain our generative AI system's backend, ensuring robustness. Responsibilities include designing scalable systems, managing APIs, ensuring high availability, implementing security, optimising databases, integrating monitoring, conducting code reviews, mentoring, and collaborating with frontend engineers and stakeholders.

What you'll need to succeed

• SC Clearance or the ability to be SC cleared.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in backend development with a strong focus on Python and Django.
• Proficiency with Django REST Framework for API development.
• Strong understanding of database design, optimisation, and management (PostgreSQL/MySQL).
• Proficient in AWS and Azure cloud platforms and their services.
• Experience with API versioning and documentation strategies.
• Familiarity with containerisation technologies like Docker.
• Knowledge of authentication protocols and security best practices.
• Experience with Git.

Preferred:

• Experience with message queues such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.
• Knowledge of service discovery and API gateway patterns.
• Familiarity with WebSocket services for implementing real-time features.
• Experience with data warehousing and analytics solutions.
• Understanding of backup and disaster recovery strategies.
• Experience with distributed systems and microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK Stack.
