A nationwide provider of specialist cleaning and decontamination services to the Science industry has a new requirement for a dedicated team to join their client on the Harwell Campus, Didcot (OX11).

There are Operative and Supervisor level roles available, working a variety of shifts.

A GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sterile environment in a specialist facility where adherence to strict cleanliness and hygiene standards is critical:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Cleaning & Sanitizing:
    • Perform routine cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting of production areas, cleanrooms, and other controlled environments.
    • Ensure that cleaning is carried out according to GMP guidelines, SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), and health & safety standards.
    • Clean floors, walls, ceilings, and surfaces using approved cleaning agents and equipment.
  2. Equipment & Material Handling:
    • Handle and properly dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials.
    • Operate cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, floor buffers, and pressure washers.
    • Maintain the cleanliness of production equipment as required by company protocols.
  3. Documentation:
    • Accurately document cleaning activities in logbooks or electronic systems, ensuring compliance with GMP record-keeping practices.
    • Complete cleaning checklists and sign off on tasks completed.
  4. Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with GMP, FDA, and other regulatory requirements.
    • Follow all health and safety procedures to minimize risks in handling cleaning agents and in a controlled environment.
    • Participate in internal and external audits when required.
  5. Stock & Inventory:
    • Manage cleaning supply inventory, ensuring that cleaning agents, sanitizers, and other required materials are available and stored correctly.
    • Replenish materials and report any shortages to supervisors.
  6. Coordination:
    • Collaborate with production staff and quality control teams to ensure that cleaning does not interfere with manufacturing schedules or quality standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Prior experience in GMP cleaning or working in a regulated environment (e.g., pharmaceutical, biotech, food manufacturing) is preferred.
  • Understanding of GMP regulations and SOPs.
  • Ability to work in a sterile or cleanroom environment, wearing proper protective clothing (e.g., gowns, gloves, masks).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions, especially regarding cleaning agents and safety protocols.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
