A unique opportunity to join an internationally renowned scientific research facility, leading a team of 11 to deliver high standards of health & safety leadership and management across this complex site.  This high-profile role reports directly to the Head of Safety, Health & Environment and works closely with a wide range of stakeholders, offering great opportunities to use and develop your skills to make a difference to UK science.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Lead a team to deliver professional Health & Safety advice and guidance
  • Implement and monitor Health, Safety & Environmental management systems
  • Maintain positive working relationships and organisational safety culture
  • Manage investigations, reporting and safety performance
  • Work closely with committees, trade unions, scientists, safety representatives, responsible persons, and external regulatory bodies
  • Prepare and deliver engaging, innovative and effective training

We are looking for someone with Health & Safety leadership and management experience, effective communication skills and the ability to engage and influence a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. 

The ideal candidate will hold:

  • CMIOSH status (or working towards)
  • NEBOSH Diploma or other Level 5/6/7 Health & Safety qualification
  • Experience in the science, engineering or technology sector
